PRE-INTERVIEW TASKS                              Cambridge DELTA MODULES

Please complete these tasks carefully as they form an important component in our decision of whether to carry out an interview.

a. Written Assignment – ALL CANDIDATES (FOR MODULE ONE, TWO OR THREE)

(i) Think of a group of students that you are presently teaching, or have taught recently. Identify some of their main learning difficulties in ONE of the following areas:

- Phonology (specify which area)

- Listening

- Reading

- Writing

- grammar areas (specify ONE grammar area)

(ii) Outline how you tried to deal with these problems in the classroom. Give specific examples of materials and activities you have used to help this group of students in your specified area.

(700 words)

b. Lesson plan – (MODULE TWO CANDIDATES ONLY)

Please send us a lesson plan of a recent lesson you have taught. The lesson can be at any student level and can be a monolingual or multilingual group. The lesson should be around 60-90’ in length. You should include the main aim(s) of the lesson, show the staging and procedure clearly, and attach copies of the materials used. You should also include a self-appraisal sheet which gives (a) an evaluation of how the lesson went; (b) a profile of what you perceive to be your personal strengths and weaknesses as a teacher.
